Pookie’s will be hosting it’s 5th annual fundraiser and adoption day to benefit local non-profit animal rescue groups on January 26th, 2013.  Animals being abandoned and turned in to local shelters continue to be at an all-time high due to current economic conditions and this event seeks to increase awareness and promote adoption of homeless pets.  Last year’s event featured 36 breed specific and other local rescue groups with over 65 dogs and cats getting forever homes. The event raised over $12,000 that was distributed equally to the participating rescues.

We are excited to be at Lake Lily Park and the Maitland Civic Center for the second year.
 The event will be held from 10 a.m. until 4 p.m.  It is a fun, festival type atmosphere and proceeds from raffled gift baskets and grab bags and donations will be distributed to the participating rescue groups.  Various pet services including pet trainers, pet sitters, pet communicators, pet boarding and veterinary services will be on site to provide information. Music/entertainment options for adults and children.  Natural foods and supplements company representatives will also be available to share educational information on pet nutrition and several will raffle off a free year of dog and/or cat food.
